Some paintings flow and others are a real struggle. This one was definitely in the latter category. I find that, in watercolour, one of the hardest things to do with any success is a dark background. Not enough paint and it ends up "washy", too much and you get that horrible shine on the last edge to dry. It also means that you have to work very quickly or leave terrible light patches in subsequent coats. Oh well perhaps a light setting next time.
Watercolour 40cm x 30cm.
